Brief Personal History:
Harry was born in Appomattox, Virginia, in 1835. His parents were just normal farmers, making a living off the soil of Virginia. Harry grew up in a rather patriotic environment. The family didn't own any slaves. While his brother seemed to be born to be a farmer, Harry's interests soon appeared to be something else. When he was 12, he stole some black powder from his father's storage and built a small explosive device from it. It was dangerous and the power of it was big enough to blow up a tree.
Of course Harry was punished by his parents, but that didn't keep him from continuing this sort of activity until he was 16. That was when his parents eventually decided that maybe becoming a farmer wasn't really suitable for Harry. So, at the age of 17, he went into mining. Or better said... into blowing stuff up. And where could you learn that except the military or the mining industry?
The military was out of question, since the only way would have been West Point and his family simply couldn't afford that. Thus mining it was. Harry left Appomattox and went on the journey for Hazard Mining, which was run by George Hazard, in Pennsylvania. For the next year, up until 1861, Harry first learned the business there and then continued to work for Hazard Mining.
The beginning of the Civil War in 1861 brought an end for his work at Hazard Mining. He returned to Virginia but couldn't get himself to join the Confederate military. He knew that some of his old colleagues would join the Union army. Shooting at them was out of question, but not helping Virginia was also not the way to do it.
Harry was a decent rider and knew how to blend in among the Yankees, thus he joined as a scout, a work he continued until the end of the war. After Lee surrendered right in Appomattox Harry could say that he had never fired a single shot in the war. Eventually he returned to Pennsylvania and continued to work as an expert for blasting operations in mining until 1875. At that time he left the east coast and headed west.
The next few years lead him through several of the western territories before ended up on the way to Lost Haven. He was a mining expert, and given the rumors and stories of rich findings there, it was likely that there was more to find.
Personality/Quirks: He has a very strong sense of humor -he tends to be very easily amused- and he likes things that go BOOM, what else is there to say? He likes dynamite, yet believes that TNT will have a great future, once someone will find a good way to detonate it.
Other important notes: His sense of humor might be considered to be annoying by some people.
