((continued from "And all Hell followed")) The surroundings of the Old Times Tavern were quaint, the furnishings were a bit simple but the whiskey was good in Shanes opinion, it reminded him of another Tavern he knew from some time ago.. Of course that place was full of egomaniacs too, so this was an improvement probably. "It's funny how things have a way of working out, eh?" he remarked to Alex over the fact he'd ended up staying in this place instead of going where ever he'd intended on heading off to. "Me?" he chuckled a little, taking a long drink off of his whiskey. "A few years now, seen every frontier town imaginable.. And then some." He sat his drink down on the bartop, taking the time to remove his hat, a bit of dust flaking out from under his hat. "... I think a bath would be in order.. Does your hotel offer those services?' he said clearing his throat, looking to make sure he hadn't gotten any sand in the mans drink or his own.

He nodded his agreement in the way things turned out. Taking off his hat, he ran a hand through his shaggy brown hair. Alex turned and looked at the man. For a moment he forgot, something important, and just stared. Lawson was a handsome man in that rugged sort of way. The kind of man, Alex had always wanted to be like. He remembered the forgotten thing suddenly and looked way.
"Yeah, Rose had a water closet, indoor plumbing bathroom and a bath with heated water, installed." Alex preened a little at this. He was proud of his Rose. "She's definably got the best Hotel in Town."

"Really?" Shane raised both brows out of surprise that a town such as this could be so 'modern' "I guess this town is on its way.." he quipped, taking another sip of whiskey. "But that's good for you.. Seems in this day and age few people have any 'roots' anywhere, Just running from silver strike to silver strike, following the money trail."

"Yeah," Alex responded. "Not sure I wanted roots, but with Rose...they just kinda happened."
Feeling uncomfortable with the conversation in the direction of Rose he cleared his throat. "I suppose with that rifle and all the wilderness experience you've got you'll be stick'n around until the festival? Masters, he owns practically half the town, is offering a nice sum of money for the winner."
Pushing his glass away he tapped out a random rhythm on the bar. "When you finish that drink , I bet church will be almost out and we can go get you set up with a room."

"They say the best things in life are sometimes the most unexpected." Though from his experience? The unexpected things were always negative but he passed on that nugget of truth anyway. He leaned against the bar casually nursing the drink as Alex brought up something that perked his interest. "Shooting competition?"
Shanes brow lifted curiously at the thought, though entering an event like that could be counter productive given how much attetion it'd bring but on the other hand? If the prize month was enough... "I've got a little experience with it." he said modestly, some men would kill for the ability to tell the stores he could involving his shooting skills. "When is it? I'm not really sure how long I'll be in town." Though if sending Bales back would be as easy as Hoffman claimed, it might just work out peachy. "Yeah, That'd be much appreciated.. Didn't have the best bath facilities back in Globe so..Yeah.." he chuckled a bit, setting his glass down on the bar as he shifted subjects. "Though.. Tell me.." Glancing down at the floor he considered how to bring this up.. Finally the flatout approach won him over. "I reckon you have a pretty good idea of the goings on in this town?"

He made no comment to the 'unexpect' remark, fate having taught him both the good and bad sides of that coin.
"Well, the sign up's this commin' friday. After that? I think it'd be in about two weeks or so." Alex thought that was right, but couldn't remember exactly what the sign had read, or what that mayor had said.
"A little experiance with it huh? Well I know we've got some good shooters here." Alex said thinking of Red. "I bet not, well Rose has her bath, which she lets the guests use and anyone who wants it. So if it looks like the prices are too high you can always come back for a quick bath." He shrugged. "I have an ear for gossip." Alex answered slowly. "But I know when to keep my mouth shut too..." There that was a rather blunt way of saying that he coudn't answer everything but did know some of the 'goings on'. "Depends on what you want to know."

"I'll have to check it out." Atleast it wouldn't involve him exposing himself to people with real guns, real bullets and the desire to shoot him to prevent him from taking them in. And then Alex made his remark about Roses hotel. Expensive.. The concept made Shane smirk just a little bit. Looking at him right now, he certainly didn't look to have much money, his clothes were faded from the dust of travel, he needed a slight shave and generally he looked the part he tried to protray, lowkey. But that didn't stop him from reassuing Alex. "I can cover it." he snorted. The answers Alex offered on the gossip front was positive atleast. "Well, I might have to keep that in mind." he said, lowering his voice some.

"Mkay" Was all he said. If Burrows said he could cover it, then it was no longer an issue.
"If not Artie, town drunk, hears lots of things. He might have a good story or two for you..."

The information coming from the 'town drunk' was usually either very spot on or very wrong he'd found in his experience. Though the stories were always priceless however, which caused him to chuckle a bit."I might have to meet him then." Though as he watched Alex drink he pondered whether or not he should ask him yet another question, the man seemed honest enough despite being a little odd. And if he asked it in just the right way? What harm could there be?
Lawson finished off his drink and sat the glass down with a small thud, choosing his words carefully before he spoke again. "Well, If you hear anything about Jimmy Bales, like where he is? Could you let me know?" His voice was still a bit low, though he tried his best to make it sound like nothing to sinister. "It can be remarkablly hard to find someone you're looking for in a town this size."

"He's a character all right. But Rose is fond of him." Alex said with a little smile. He sipped his drink.
"Jimmy Bales? Not more then what I told you. But If I see him, should I let him know your lookin' for him or..." Though he didn't want details he knew how this world looked. And though Burrows hadn't admitted or eluded to anything, Alex had seen his type before. There was a hunters gleam in his eye that and the way he held himself that reminded Alex of the old days, back when he was the one being hunted. "Either way, I'll let you know if I seem 'm."

Shane shook his head, smiling politely. "I'd prefer if you didn't tell him anything.. I'll much appreciate your effort." There he tried to imply some sort of reward, but didn't push it any further. "Barkeep, another round for myself and my friend here." Oh how the thought amused him, drinking before noon on a sunday no less.. His Pastor would accuse him of being a alcoholic sinner who was certainly going to hell.

Message received loud and clear. Alex smirked and nodded. "For a friend? Anything." He great fully took the next glass and sipped it. "My old Minister would be rollin' in his grave right now. Though...it's one of the many things he'd roll in his grave over, 'bout me." Alex laughed and lifted his glass. "Cheers Burrows."

Lawson choked on his drink when Alex mentioned his minster. "Oh.. Lor.." he coughed a bit more, laughing in between. "So would mine.. Though I stopped listening to him years ago, which means I guess we're both going to hell right? Cheers to that too, We'll have a fun time on the way!" he laughed, lifting his drink to Alexes then downing it.

Laughing like he hadn't in the past weeks, not since Red, Alex downed his own drink. "To going to hell!" He slammed the glass down taking a deep breath. "I'd better stop though, Rose'll hang me if she thinks I'm drunk on Sunday. Like having a bossy little sister she is." He laughed again and shook his head.

"Har har." he smirked, amused that he had a bit of a keeper. "IF we stop now? We're not alcoholics, only alcoholics get drunk before noon." he said grinning as he pushed his glass aside. "And Id really hate to try checking in drunk."
