Any distinguishing features: none
Place of Birth: Boston, Massachusetts
Family: Josephine Burrows- mother(deceased)
Caleb Burrows- father
Brief Personal History: Victoria was born in Boston, Massachusetts to a middle-class, strict Christian family. She was an `accident' according to her father and was basically ignored by him but dearly loved by her mother. At a young age, it was discovered she had a talent for singing and so her parents arranged for her to take singing lessons from an acclaimed teacher in New York. She was taught to sing in French, Italian and German as well and was on her way to be a great opera singer. She performed arias at several theatres in her training and received acclaim for them.
Then one night, out of curiosity, she went with a male student to a burlesque house. As she watched a sultry number performed, the student told her that she could also do that if not better. On a
dare, she agreed to perform like that in front of him and found she actually had a talent for it. For the first time in her life she was getting attention from a man and she loved it. She spoke with one of the performers and was told how much money she could earn not to mention the gifts that men would give. Seeing it as a chance to rebel against her father's treatment of her and her Christian upbringing, she agreed to audition for the burlesque house and soon became a regular performer there to her parent's dismay. She found that she was truly able to express herself when she performed sultry numbers in corsets and stockings rather than opera in fancy, stuffy- looking dresses.
She soon made a name for herself and was deemed `The Ringlet Beauty' due to her performing always with ringlets in her hair. Even though she knew she had disgraced her family, she still loved her mother and in tribute would also sing a few arias to mix in with her performances for variety. But of course it was the burlesque numbers which were most preferred by male audience members and which gave her the most acclaim. She soon left
the burlesque house in New York and became a special guest at
various other burlesque houses throughout the country. She had male admirers wherever she went and it is said also left many broken hearts. It is rumored that some men have become so smitten with her that they have fought for her. There is even a rumor that a married aristocrat bestowed her with gifts and was seen in her company many times after her performances. But once his advances to her were rejected, she was forced to leave that state and claimed no knowledge that the aristocrat had been married.
Wishing to try and escape from the event involving the aristocrat she headed out west where she came upon some rich boomtowns. No one in this area had ever heard of her and it allowed her a little more freedom while allowing her to also establish herself. While performing in Phoenix she was approached by a man named Elliot Masters who owned The Ambrosia Club in Lost Haven. Not wishing to miss out on an opportunity(and good money) she took it and has now come to make a name for herself.
Personality/Quirks: Most men believe that due to some of her performances in corsets and garters that Victoria is an easy lay. But in reality she sees it as only part of the role she performs and nothing else. She does admit that she likes the power she holds over men though which shows just how weak they are. She knows all she has to do is show a little leg or speak in a sultry voice and a man will buy her gifts or do anything she wishes
Other important notes: Well sometimes unfortunately Victoria can have some problems with dust and extremely hot weather. Great for being in the west huh? :-P
Audition Piece: As mentioned earlier, you'll need to write an audition, consisting of at least three paragraphs. The audition to give us an idea of not only your character, but your writing skills as well. If you need any help, please contact one of the staff members.
