Actually, she’d heard the story several times. That didn’t mean she ever got tired of hearing it, Rose nodded. “No, please tell us that one.” She said agreeing with Henry. Offering a small smile in the man’s direction, at which point she realized she was smiling at a very rich man and quickly looked away again. Fiddling with the tea pot, she made sure her cup was full as well as Henry’s. Jane came out, and smiled. “Hiya Artie” she said, her teeth white against the blackness of her skin. She knelt by Rose and whispered something. Rose nodded, “That’ll be fine then.” The other woman nodded and disappeared. A moment later she was back with a tray of sandwiches. “You know the Rule Artie.” Rose said to the man before he could reach for a sandwich. If he wanted supper in her Hotel he had to wash his hands, her eyes darted over to the basin of water. It was silly of her, he wasn’t a child, but that was the rule in her hotel. She liked to make sure the man ate, truth be told Rose worried about him. “Help yourself H…Mr. Barton.” Rose said.

He greeted Jane with a smile and a wave. She was one of those he deemed a good woman as well and was quite fond of her. She fed him most of the time. And everyone knows that the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. He frowned, slightly, at Rose. He never liked her forcing him to clean up before a meal. Made it look as though he couldn't care for himself, which he certainly and very well could. Though, it'd be a different story if he were sober. With a loud sigh, he stood up and made his way to the wash basin and did as he was told.
After a few minutes of splashing around, he returned to his seat, flopping into it. He reached a hand out ad took up a sandwich, taking a bite. After mulling it over, the taste that is, he swallowed that bite and nodded to Bart, pointing at him with his sandwich. "Y'know, the little'nes. They're tiny, black as night, so y'can't find 'em in the minesh. They go 'bout paintin' the rocks. If the likes ya, they'll letcha find the real shtuff, the shilver, silverrr, and gold. But, if they don't..." He tisked and then clucked his tongue. "Y'might never get back outta there." He leaned back with a sigh. "Or you'll find foolsh gold. But, that'sh farther wesht..."

It struck Barton that Artie was kind of like the silly old uncle some people had, old and crazy but a bit loveable for some. Right now he wasn't feeling much 'love' for the man by any means, reseving himself to try and enjoy his tea peacefully while Rose tried to get him to wash his hands, "Nice old man though.." he commented quietly once Artie was out of earshot, Though in part he was telling a bit of a white lie for Roses benifit but as soone as she returned to calling him Mr. Barton she received a sharp look from Henry, then a smile. "It's Henry, and I'd be delighted." he reached for one of the sandwitches, examing it before taking a bite. Much to his surprise it was quite good, or maybe it was the fact he hadn't had any food in ten hours or so. Regardless, he was quite happy now.
With mild interest he half listened to Artie telling his store about the Mine people, while taking the occasionally bite from his sandwich. "Hm.. So thats where Fools gold comes from.." he trailed off, deciding not to comment any further on the mans silly tale. "Delicious Rose, compliments to the kitchen."

“He really is a nice old man.” She agreed, nodding her head. Would the blushing never end? When Henry scolded her softly for calling him Mr. Barton, she’d felt her cheeks flair up again. She looked down at her plate and nodded. “Henry, of course.” When Artie came back, grumbling about washing up she smiled at him. “Thank you.” She said, grinning at the older man.. Rose listened to his story, she’d heard it half-a-dozen times. Sometimes with little detail, like now and sometimes an hour long story full of detail. Rose only half believed his story, she knew it was just that, a story, but it sounded so real sometimes when Artie elaborated, that she couldn’t help but think it might be true. “Have you ever been down in the mines?” She asked both men, looking from one to the other. “I’ll tell Jane you enjoyed it.” Rose responded to the compliment. Munching slowly on her own sandwich.

Artie had taken a few more bites of his sandwich and nodded at Rose's question. "'Course I have. How else'd I know 'bout the litte'ns?" He asked, rather matter-of-factly. He finished off his sandwich in a few more bites, then sighed. "Though'chu knew that already, Rosey." He said to her, leaning back in his chair. He could suddenly feel the effects of his stupor wearing off with the help of the sandwich, a sweep of calm overcame him that often to lead to a heavy slumber. He blinked a few times, tilting his head to one side. "What 'bout'chu, Bart? Y'ever been in onna yer mines?"

Quietly he finished off his sandwitch before answering Roses question, which was directed to him again by Artie. "No." he admited honestly, wiping his hands off with a napkin. "But thats among the reason's I'm here." Within the next few days he atleast intended on touring the mining camps and seeing the operation first hand, whehter or not he'd go down into the mines himself was still up in the air. "But I just arrived today, so.." he said smiling at them both. "Maybe tomorrow." he sipped the tea from his cup before posing a question to Artie. "I take it you either worked the mines, prospected or both Artie?"

Artie was the only one who ever got away with calling her Rosey. Smiling she shook her head. “I thought you had, but I wasn’t sure.” She responded to him, noticing the sleepy state he was falling into. Leaning over she gave his hand a squeeze and turned her attention back to Henry. ‘Maybe tomorrow’ he said. Rose had always wanted to see the mines, but it wasn’t proper for her to be there, nor could she leave the hotel. “You’ll have to tell me about it when you get back tomorrow Henry.” She said with a smile, before turning to look at Artie, waiting for his answer, though she already knew what it was. He’d told her a million times already, Rose didn’t mind hearing it once more. She didn’t think she’d ever get tired of his stories.

He had every intention of answering Mr. Fancy Pants there. Unfortunately, he didn't have much time to. His head had lolled forward, his hat dipping before his eyes and he fell into a blissful oblivion. Though, he did flinch as Rose squeezed his hand, it didn't wake him. He mumbled some kind of answer that, had it been clear, probably wouldn't have made any sense at all. And with that, he was gone.

Henry nodded a little but made no move to invite her along, he had no problem giving her a tour of the 'empire' as it was but not before he'd even seen it himself. If there were problems that needed to be fixed, he wanted to get them out of the way first. Instead he patience awaited Arties answer about his occupation, while enjoying the last few drops of tea from his cup but before that could happen, the man dozed off and Henry chuckled softly. "I think he might have the right idea.."

Sighing Rose shook her head. She was always amazed by Artie’s skill to just…fall asleep where ever he was. “I’ll get Alex, we’ll take care of him.” She smiled at Henry again, “Yes indeed. You’ve been on the road a long time, and I have work to continue.” She stood, giving a tiny curtsy to him. Jane at the same time came out, and stole the dishes away. Rose pulled her aside and asked “Where’s Alex?” Jane responded something that was intelligible but Rose nodded. “Have a pleasant afternoon, Mr Bar…Henry” she corrected herself with a shy smile. “Please excuse me.” She slipped from the room calling for Alex. They’d put Artie either in Alex’s room or Alex would take the old man home.

That fact about the Scots was one that he certainly couldn't deny. Taking in the last swallow of the whiskey Sullivan took his time enjoying the last bit of liquor, allowing the warm liquor to burn and titliate his senses before swallowing it down with a short cough. "Damn good," he grinned. Bill chuckled at the Doctor and the whole business with how bad alcohol was for the liver"Oh, I suppose you're right... So, another shot?" He smirked while holding his glass up.

The doctor nodded once and refilled the marshal's glass quickly. He hesitated a second before filling his as well. “I rather not tell O-Suzu about having two glasses at this time of the day. She doesn't like alcohol.” That was an understatement. O-Suzu loathed that stuff, no matter how it was called or what color it had. Drunk people were disgusting, people who were already in the stage of needing alcohol were just... He knew that one part of her pitied them, but the other really loathed them. Why drink? It didn't solve anything, in fact it brought up only more problems. That's what she had once told him. “I'm too old to break with that habit, though.”

The Marshal wondered for a second which actually had worse potential in this case a drunk Doctor or drunk Town Marshal, both servents to the people. Regardless he dismissed it with a snigger, as he lifted his glass to the Doctor. "Many Thanks, And I'll try to keep it to myself." he said while making a locking motion at his lips. "I probably shouldn't have another myself but..." He took a swig anyway, not that this town had any real need for the law anyway.

“Two isn't too bad. Four, or even five at this time, that would be too much, but not two. Three would be acceptable as well. No actually, four would work as well. Five would be too much,” Charles mused. If O-Suzu knew about this...
That was when the door opened and it was... O-Suzu. She blinked once when she noticed the bottle and the glasses. Whiskey. Alcohol. At this time of the day. And the doctor still had work to do! For a second she stared at the glass in his hand, then, without any further hesitation, she walked up to Charles. “We've moved the guy to the room. He should be fine for now. The bandages are in place. His friends are gone.” Quickly she reached for the doctor's glass and took it away from him. “Don't forget your promise, doctor Franklin.” A quick look at the marshal's glass followed, but she figured that he hadn't promised to drink too much during the day and, give that he didn't give a damn about her, why should give one about him?
