Rose stepped back, slightly out of the way, after pouring the newest arrival's tea. Catching eyes with Henry she smiled and slipped back out to the lobby to await the other guests. Moving about with the ease of some one who knew her surroundings, Rose called Amy, the other darker haired blond (Lisa had bright blond hair that fell in curls charmingly about her face.). "I'll be serving Mr. Barton and his guests, I need you to great any guests and show them their room." The girl nodded and stepped hind the counter. Rose turned and waited by the door for the next guest.

Lefcourt took the hand for a firm shake. So this was Barton, from the East Coast. He certainly fitted into the idea most people had about a typical Yankee, but Harry knew better than to judge from merely that. “Lefcourt, Harry Lefcourt. One of your... minions told me to come here this evening.” Minions, oh dear. What would he come up with next?

Henry cringed slightly in reaction to the mans handshake, it really was firm and quite strong if anything else. "Yes, I think Stevens it was.. He should be here in a bit." Barton explained while gesturing to a seat. "Please, please have a seat Mister Lefcourt, I'm glad you could make it." he said offering a faint smile, as soon as Leftcourt was seated he took his own seat. "Stevens told me you're the best Mining Engineer in the territory?" he asked flatout, plunging head first into his interests. The fact was he really didn't know Stevens all that well, so this man could be a nutcase for all he knew. "Oh, would you like anything other then your tea?"

“Yes, Stevens. Thank you,” Harry replied and took a seat. Listening to Barton didn't bring any new revelations. So Stevens had told the man, that was fine. Once Barton was done Harry nodded once. “Yes sir. I usually don't boast with my skills, but yes, you could say that.” He used the short pause to look the other man over. Barton was really a gentleman, at least from his looks and the way he dressed. Really a classic Yankee. “Oh no, tea is just fine. I haven't had a decent tea in...” There he paused for a second trying to remember when that had been. “General Jackson usually had some decent tea around, but we never drank much tea. Coffee was the drink of choice. He also had lemons, plenty of them. Don't remember ever seeing him without one. But yes Mr Barton, tea is just fine.” His right hand reached up to straighten the strap of his bag.

"You sure? I'm sure Coffee wouldn't be a problem, I mean.. This place has everything." Henry responded, his words rambling together more then anything. "Well, I certainly hope everything I've been told about you is true." he said chuckling. "Given the reports that I've been getting from here, I think Lost Haven has much more potentional, and our operation has room for improvement in the area of efficiency, what do you think?" Barton had decided it'd be in his best interest to question everyone seperately if possible, given Stevens was above Lecourt there could be the possiblity he might not be so candid. Was there dirty laundry here in Lost Haven? Perhaps. Waiting for his answer he sipped the tea from his cup, his eyes trailing over the rugged mans features, he certainly fit the profile of a frontiers type and oh what stories he must have.

“No no, tea is quite alright.” Harry insisted. Then he blinked once. “I certainly hope that, whatever you've heard about me is not the truth. You never know what people ramble about behind your back.” Oh yes, that could turn out to be really nasty. “Whatever you might have heard, don't believe it.” Though, he had to agree on the potential. While Harry didn't know much about Lost Haven he knew that mining operations, especially fresh ones, always had potential, if lead by someone who knew his job. “Efficiency, yes. I agree.” With that Harry reached into his bag -he never went anywhere without it- and pulled out a single rod of dynamite, with fuse. “I must say,” he began, while holding the dynamite like a stick used by a teacher, “that some of your people are hardly efficient. They're wasting dynamite left and right. It's not even remotely funny. They treat the mines like a butcher not like a surgeon.” Holding a piece of dynamite in a hotel was certainly not normal. “I wonder how much money they're blowing up for no reason at all.”

Henry canted his head while looking at the stick, assuming it was a hallowed out dud for demonstration purposes, thus he was rather unflinching. "That does sound awfully wasteful." Barton replied, quietly stirring his tea after adding more sugar. Wasteful both in the expense of dynamite and possibly damaging the veins them self in his mind. "I've been reading over the reports for months Mister Lefcourt, and from the data I had it seemed our operations here should've been profiting by a wider margin." He took a casaul sip from his cup before setting it down again. "Thats why I came here you know? I want to reform this operation, and expand it.. We have a good foot hold in these Mountains, and I think it'd be wise to expand operations but not before we take care of these problems, don't you agree?" he paused for a moment, "What changes would you suggest?"

“With all due respect, I'm not the kind of guy who runs a company or employs people or leads them or anything. I'm the guy who blows stuff up,” Harry noted, “and if I may say so... that's what I'm good at. You tell me what to blow up, when and where and it shall be done.” That wasn't just talk. It was his life. “Now, you see Mr Barton, a lot of people would think this stick to be a dud.” Raising the dynamite a little he waved it left and right. “But why would anyone carry around a dud? It's pointless, useless. I only carry real dynamite. You never know when you need it, so I rather have it somewhere nearby in case I might need it.” Was Harry crazy? Maybe, but just a little bit.

Rose watched the door waiting for the next guests to come through. She looked back in on Mr. Barton and his first guest. "Every thing alright? Do you Need anything?" she asked before looking back to check and make sure no one had walked through the door. When she glanced back she heard Mr. Lefcourt say something about dynamite and, then she looked at the stick he was waving around. She swallowed thickly, paling a little and looking around for the candles nearest to him. Not that she thought that he'd blow the whole place down...(she might have, just the tiniest bit thought that) but accidents were known to happen. She smiled as she realized there weren't any candles in his direct area.
((Might just be best to skip me for a bit cause all Rose has to say at this moment it "yes sir, no sir" kinda stuff....so...you might just start with the dinner? I'll pop in when I'm needed for foods and such.))

As soon as Harry noted that the stick was live and not a dud Henry choked on his tea. "gah! I.." He coughed on the tea caught in his wind pipe, finally getting out a coherent sentence after a few moments. "Erm.. I see. Well I suppose you do have a point Mister Lefcourt." He hadn't exactly delivered the answers he'd wanted of course, it seemed Henry would have to do the the digging on his own. "Perhaps you'd acompany me tomorrow on a tour of our operations? I really want to get the ball rolling as soon as possible you understand, but if you do have any ideas please.. Tell let me know." He said smiling and with that he heard the lobby door open and close, which must've meant the other guests had arrived. "Oh, I think the others are here.."

Harry noticed the reaction, but not only from Barton. The other people weren't really that happy either. Silly people, it wasn't the plague or anything. It was just dynamite, it was harmless. Sort of. He shook his head, then put the stick away. “Oh I'd love to, Mr Barton. Problem is, there's too many amateurs in the west. Most of the specialists stay in the East Coast areas.” The other were here? Oh, interesting. Now the party was living up, right?

Henry stared past Harry and towards the door half lost in his thoughts. 'Back east? what? Am i suppose to replace our crews? Why cant this be simple?' he wondered to himself as Operations foreman Marshal Stevens came through the door, tipping his hat to Rose. "Sorry I was a bit late, hope I havent missed the dinner!" Henry forced a frown, though in reality he was already a little disgruntled. "No, not at all." he said before rising to his feet and gesturing to a seat. "Please sit, Me and Mister Lefcourt here were just having a nice conversation." That had really lead no where, perhaps he'd be better off asking about some of the mans exciting tales? Who the hell knew. Following that the sound of footfalls down the grandstaircase preceded the arrival of Lucas Burke who joined them at the table as well. "Well, we can discuss business in a bit.. but first?" he smiled at Lefcourt, feeling that they wouldn't resolve a whole lot tonight there might as well be some 'fun' instead. "Perhaps you could tell us a good tale?"

“Ah, Mr Stevens.” Harry nodded once. Now, what was Barton rambling about now? Exciting tales? Like what? Getting into the range of an angry mule's kick of the Federal Army at Gettysburg? Coal dust and explosives? Ah, what did he expect? Harry didn't consider any of this to be exciting. Except maybe... standing in front of general Lee. That had been amazing, yes, certainly. But Barton was a Yankee, it was unlikely that he'd really care for such things. “I'm sorry Mr Barton, I'm a mere mining engineer. Most of the things I know deal with rocks and explosions. Except maybe the war, but... there were also plenty of explosions in it.”

Quickly Rose lead the newest members into the parlor. "No of course not, dinner will be served when every one gets here, or when Mr. Barton wishes it." Rose said, " Would you like me to take your coat Sir?".
Ever the perfect host, when she wasn't needed she stepped back just out of site of the parlor room, but though they couldn't see her she could see them. She let them talk for a moment before slipping back out, waiting for a lull in the conversation. " Mr. Barton? Would you like Dinner served now?"

Henry frowned a little at the man seated across from him. 'No stories?? But this is the frontier! He must have some sort of stories, surely the people of the west weren't THIS boring were they?' He sighed sotly at Roses words and nodded along. "Yes.. Unless Mister Lefcourt here has some amazing tales with explosions, please go ahead and serve dinner.. Thank you." he nodded and offered her a smile while the other men got seated. "Well Gentlemen I'm glad you could make it, Uh.. Oh yes, Mister Lefcourt this is Lucas Burke, he's my advisor and tends to take care of day to day operations.. Lucas, this is Harry Lefcourt.. He makes things go.. boom"
Politely Lucas nodded politely to the man with the odd beard. "A pleasure Sir," Even Burke could detect a bit of awkwardness coming from Barton. "Well, I think before we can make any decisions we need to see the operations ourselves, So, Mister Marshal please take care of that for tomorrow." The other man nodded a bit. "Of course Sir."
"For tonight, Lets have a nice dinner, shall we?"
