Monday, March 16th, 18803:35 PMLost Haven was like most of the mining camps and frontier town's that Shane had found through his travels, the promise of being the next sprawling city of the west, yet corrupt and ran by outlaws and cowboys. And money was flowing through the streets like no tomorrow. That made Lawsons job a bit easier though, and even though he'd only arrived the day before he was already making his rounds casing the town and looking for any possible information that might relate to his quarry. The best place to start was usually the local saloon, he'd already been aquainted with one of the local watering wholes with Alex Manson, but Lawson was looking to get a broader picture of the town. He intended on checking out Paradise street later, perhaps even checking with one of the ladies of the evening to see if he could find anything, even though the idea of actually using their 'services' had crossed his mind. He'd checked in at the Five Graces the Day before and spent the rest of the day cleaning up, and resting up. But now he was waltzing down Fremont street, taking notes of the various Saloons, Hotels, Gambling dens and shops. Up ahead he noticed the large sign for the Ambrosia Club, As he understood it from Alex and others, It was both a bit more rowdy and more high class then a lot of the establishments on Fremont, That could mean many things but he felt it was worth checking out. And as he made the couple steps up to the deck he noticed two cowboys coming out each with two pistols strapped to their belts, a bit different then the Old Times Tavern indeed. For the most part Lawson was keeping a low profile, his clothes were fairly typical, nothing that stood out and he only wore one firearm out in the open which would hopefully be a sign that he wasn't to 'threatening' but his mannerisms and attidue sometime gave it away anyway. Reaching the door he pulled it open with one hand and stepped through the doorway. The door shut behind him as he stood there for a moment observing the establishment for a moment, It certainly was a high class establishment.. A bit empty, but expected on a Monday afternoon. ((For everyone, jus wandering around town finding new people and things! ))

Kit leaned against the bar, absentmindedly running a cloth over its shiny wooden surface, and again wondered what had prompted her to volunteer her services when Lewis had been unable to come in earlier that day. Sure, she hadn't had any plans, and her modest room in the midst of brothels and the like was depressing during the day and impossible to sleep in once late afternoon hit - the walls were entirely too thin.
She'd gotten used to her shift, where there was hardly time to down a drink between customers, and time flew. This afternoon was slow and she wondered idly if she was going to make it. She looked up as a man she hadn't yet seen entered the bar and sized him up. Eh, not incredibly well off but he'd probably tip. She smiled brightly and waved him over. "Hello there! What'll ye be havin, then?"

"Whiskey please, Thank you." Lawson said quite plainly and concealing his native accent to some extent, sometimes it was best to keep them guessing in all possible ways. "I hope this isn't the sort of establishment that waters its drinks down," he pointed his finger at her like it was a gun, "I got my eye on you." he said teasingly as he laid his hat down on the bartop. The place was rather quiet, and between the old habbits and the fact she was a woman he checked her out as she prepared his drink.

Katie gave him a hurt look, then winked. "Don't worry about the establishment, we like our customers happy." She poured his drink and slid it over to him. "See if that works for ya." She leaned on the bar, waiting for him to taste. "So I take it this is your first time visiting Ambrosia Club?" She asked lightly, beginning to polish the glasses - a third time - for something to do.

Shane leaned against the bar with his elbows watching her work as he laced his fingers together. "That's a good attitude to have, I've seen to many places where their intent was to rob you blind more or less." Not that theyd' ever taken him advantage or anything. "Thanks." he straightened up as he plucked the glass from the bar and gave it a taste. ".. Damn, Not bad at all." he smiled a bit. "You're observant, though I just got in yesterday.."

"Actually just a lucky guess, really.." Katie held a glass up to the light and expected it for fingerprints, then placed it on the stack with the rest of them. She had actually been asking everybody that as she met them, in most conversations she had been the new person to town, not her customer.
"Welcome to Lost Haven, at any rate. Business or pleasure?" She asked mildly, glancing down to make sure his drink wasn't empty and likewise scanning the room, the two other customers she had were taken care of and still deeply discussing something...

"Nice getting lucky from time to time isn't it?" Despite the obvious way the comment could be taken, he spoke it with a straight face with the hope it'd provoke a response. He enjoyed another drink from his glass while she asked him another question. "A bit of both." He said truthfully. "I guess finding a good time in this town isn't that difficult." The streets of the town screamed sin and vice of course. "I'm impressed though," he remarked while watching her eyes as she piddled with the glass.

She smirked at his lucky comment, and nodded her agreement. "Very nice..." Her mind drifted back to a couple nights ago, where she had gotten very lucky, in more ways than one...
"Impressed? With what?" She asked.

"This." He said gliding his hand around the room. "It's one of the nicer places I've seen along the trail." And that was genuinely true, it could've passed for a saloon in Fort Worth actually. And then her response prompted a smirk from him, he couldn't help it. "Ah Lucky you indeed." he chuckled again, downing the last gulp of his drink. "Does the Gambling side stay pretty busy at night?" Somehow he figured that this Bales Character was probably the time that enjoyed the card tables, he certainly enjoyed gambling with his life.

"Oh, aye, we generally have a few games going. You play, I suppose?" She looked at him, sizing him up once more. She had just started working here, and didn't think it was appropriate to thank the gentleman or in any way take credit for the quality of the place, but did smile in appreciation of the compliment.

"Occasionally when I lose my wits and want to lose money." He jested, a small smile forming on the corners of his lips. Now and then he'd play a game of poker but usually he was too damn busy to enjoy such things. "What about you? What do you do for fun?"

The question caught her off guard. Lately? Elliot Masters...
She shrugged. "I'm new to town as well, mostly been working to get myself settled. I've had time for little else, yet." She murmered the slightly white lie with a smile, and gestured to his glass. "Refill?"

"Ah, I see." Though his eyes showed a little sign of skepticism, but no matter. Glancing down at the empty glass he considered it for a moment, then shrugged. "Eh Sure." he smiled a little, truth was he had nothing else to do for now, so what better way to kill some time then with a few drinks?

Leaning over the bar - it was a little tall for her - she took the bottle and refilled his glass, and smiled kindly at him. Excusing herself for a moment, she took a pitcher over to the only other occupied table in the place, making sure they were taken care of. Then she returned to the bar.
Sighing, she shrugged, pulled out another glass, and filled it with whiskey, and stepped over to where her new customer was resting. "I never caught your name, stranger.."

"Much appreciated." He said graciously with a curt smile, yes she was a lovely creature and the company was a nice change from oh say.. The cactus? Rolling Tumble Weeds and all of that typical range stuff. Idly he watched as she served the other customers, nursing his own drink as she worked. Sometimes it was hard to find good hostesses in towns like this, some were excellent con-artists and even pick pockets at time so it was wise to be weary. This one didn't seem to be working him over really, then again it was still early. "Oh, How rude of me.." he uttered in response to her question, but he smiled simply at her and.. "Burrows, Shane Burrows." lied through his teeth as he'd so many times before. His name, the family name itself carried notoriety with it and that was attetion he didn't need. "And your name?"
